Hydrogen-bonded inclusion compounds with reversed polarity: anionic metal-complexes and cationic organic linkers.
Synthesized and structurally characterized is a new series of soft-host frameworks assembled by charge-assisted hydrogen bonds between an anionic metal complex (MC) and cationic organic linkers (OL), specifically [Co(en)(ox)(2)](-) and diprotonated 4,4'-bipyridinium (H(2)bpy) or 1,2-bis(4-pyridinium)ethylene (H(2)bpye). While frameworks built of cationic complexes and anionic organic linkers ar...

By the 1980s, this field had matured, but a renaissance occurred with the availability of more advanced and sophisticated physical methods used to characterise such compounds. This renaissance can also be traced back to the rediscovery of colloid chemistry as well as to the realisation that metal-rich cluster complexes can be considered as a bridge between classical small metal complexes of the...
متن کاملUnprecedented spin localisation in a metal-metal bonded dirhenium complex.
The molecular and electronic structure of edge-sharing bioctahedral [N(n-Bu)4]3[Re2(mnt)5] is reported here. Despite the short intermetal bond length of 2.6654(2) Å with computed bond order of 1.2, the unpaired electron is localised by the asymmetric ligand distribution, as demonstrated by its remarkable EPR spectrum.
متن کاملPi-bonded quinonoid transition-metal complexes.
Coordination of the carbocyclic ring of hydroquinones to electrophilic transition-metal fragments such as Mn(CO)3+ and Rh(COD)+ produces stable pi-bonded eta6-complexes that are activated to facile reversible deprotonation of the -OH groups. The deprotonations are accompanied by electron transfer to the transition metal, which acts as an internal oxidizing agent or electron sink. With manganese...
متن کاملFunctionalization of SWNTs to facilitate the coordination of metal ions, compounds and clusters.
The carboxylate residues of the open ends of aryl-tert-butyl and arylsulfonic acid side-walled functionalized single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) have been investigated for the complexation conditions of the iron-molybdenum cluster [H(x)PMo(12)O(40)CH(4)Mo(72)Fe(30)(O(2)CMe)(15)O(254)(H(2)O)(98)] ("FeMoC"). A range of alternative donor groups for the attachment of FeMoC have been investigate...
